Main Show

If you would like to see some photographs that were taken at the dress rehearsal, you can do so by clicking here and when the DVD of the show is produced, there will be some video clips as well.

When you take a platoon of Dragoon Guards who discover they are no longer adored by a troop of rapturous maidens; add a simple milk maid, Patience, who claims that she does not know what love is; mix in two aesthetic poets, Bunthorne and Grosvenor, adored by the ladies but each in love with Patience. you have all the ingredients for a good plot.

Put together with Sullivan's sparkling music and a Director as
talented as Alan Spencer and the result is a show that delighted our audiences and left the whole cast with a sense of huge achievement.
Patience

Our production team of Director Alan Spencer and Musical Director Jean Holt created something special that has received nothing but praise from our audiences and excellent reviews in the press.  You can see below some of the very many emails we have received and the excellent review in SceneOne magazine can be seen here.

If you came along to the show we very much hope that you enjoyed it and we would greatly value your comments.  Please click the button below and send us an email.

Some of the many comments and emails that we have received:

"Really enjoyed the show this evening - great fun. Congratulations all round."

"Once again the G&S Society have excelled themselves. Your production of Patience was really super.  Your group of singers always seem to be so well chosen for their parts, they really do suit their characters.  In particular the two poets were magnificent in their contrasting parts."

"We were in the audience on Wednesday night with our daughter who enjoyed it as much as we did. Great performances all round and superb costumes."

"A big thank you to the Bournemouth Gilbert & Sullivan Operatic Society for once again giving us such a wonderful afternoon of escapism."

"Last night's performance flowed seamlessly with no obvious fluffs or pregnant pauses.  It shows how much work has been put in by the Director, cast, and everyone else connected with the show."

"Well done all the G&S-ers! Very enjoyable show."

"Well done, it was a really fantastic show."

Iolanthe

Our Main Show for this year is going to be one of the favourites for many G&S fans

Gilbert's wicked humour which picks fun at the members of the House of Lords who get entangled with a group of lively fairies, together with Sullivan's wonderful music make this a show not to be missed!  Our Director is once again the very talented Alan Spencer who has been the architect of some of our most successful shows recently and our Musical Director is our own resident MD Jean Holt whose musical ability is renowned in this area.

Do get the dates in your diary and more details will be available later in the year.  The show will be on the Poole's Centre for the Arts, Lighthouse from Wed 24th to Sat 27th October.  We last did Iolanthe 10 years ago - do have a look at some photographs and video clips from that show here.
