We are always delighted to see new people who would like to join our Society, so if you are thinking about it please have a look around the website which will give you a good idea of what we do.  There are some notes specially written to give you some facts and figures about what becoming a member involves, so do have a look at those and then contact our Secretary who will be able to give you any other information.

Well we are half way through the year and 2008 is proving to be as busy and exciting a year for the Society as 2007 was, with lots going on and many new members joining us.

We had a very successful concert season back in April and May which had the title of “G&S at the Zoo” because half the concert was a production of The Zoo with music by Sir Arthur Sullivan.  If you came along to any of the concerts we do hope you had an enjoyable evening.  Click here to read the excellent review by Linda Kirkman in the Echo.

Our main show this year will be -  The Sorcerer

with a new Director, Alan Spencer.  He has huge experience of directing both professional and amateur G&S shows, so we are all looking forward to what he will bring to our production this year.  It is on in Poole’s Centre for the Arts - Lighthouse - from 28th October to 1st November.  Please get the dates in your diary!

Last year’s show was the ever popular The Gondoliers.  The show was full of colour and movement and once again was a resounding success with favourable comments flooding in from friends and critics alike.  If you came to the show, thank you for your support and if you missed it then we are very sorry that you did!  In any case, you can see some pictures and video clips from the show here.

If you would like to comment on the show, or any other event that you have seen us doing, then please as we are always very keen to know what people feel about the things we do - both good and bad - because it is what our audiences think that is important.

We finished 2007 with our carol season at Christmas raising money for the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Christchurch where the overall amount was well in excess of £3800 which is marvellous and our sincere thanks to all those who donated so generously.

NODA Accolade of Excellence

Every year the National Operatic and Dramatic Association - NODA - present ‘Accolades of Excellence’ to shows that are the best in their category.  In the last 5 years, we have TWICE won this accolade for our productions of The Yeomen of the Guard and The Pirates of Penzance.

Never a dull moment!
