This Year is once again another busy and exciting one for the Society.  We have just put on a marvellous staged concert on board HMS Warrior in Portsmouth Dockyard, as part of their 150th year celebrations.  It was a great day and enjoyed by all.

Back in April and May we had our series of Spring Shows and Concerts which were very successful and enjoyed by all our audiences.  The show featured a fully staged production of Trial by Jury, together with many other favourite songs from the operas. You can read the excellent review by Linda Kirkman in her magazine Scene One here.

At the end of October we put on our Main Show which is going to be

directed by Roberta Morrell who has been the inspiration behind many of our past shows, including our 50th anniversary production of The Yeomen of the Guard at Corfe Castle in 1997.

Last year our main show was a highly successful production of HMS Pinafore at Poole’s Lighthouse, with packed houses and huge praise from our audiences.  Click here for the review by Linda Kirkman for the Bournemouth Echo.  Earlier in the year we took our 2008 production of The Sorcerer to the International G&S Festival at Buxton in Derbyshire and received several awards, including Best Male Performer, best Animated Chorus and came 2nd in the overall festival.

We always finish our year with a carol season leading up to Christmas, raising money for the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Christchurch.  We are very proud that over the many years of singing carols we have raised well in excess of  £45,000 and 2009 brought a new record amount of over £4,500 to add to that.  Thank you to all those who give so generously.

Every year the National Operatic and Dramatic Association - NODA - present ‘Accolades of Excellence’ to shows that are the best in their category.  In the last 7 years, we have TWICE won this accolade for our productions of The Yeomen of the Guard and The Pirates of Penzance.

Never a dull moment!
