As far as last year’s show was concerned, The Sorcerer was a huge success and if you came along then we do hope you enjoyed the production as much as we did. Director Alan Spencer’s huge experience of directing both professional and amateur G&S shows really brought it to life and we have had nothing but praise from friends and critics alike. You can see some photographs and some video clips from the show too.
If you would like to see the review of the show by Linda Kirkman, which appears in her magazine Scene One and which was also in the Bournemouth Echo, please click here.
The Buxton International G&S Festival is held every year in August and we have taken
a show to the festival every 3 years since 1997. So this year will be our 5th appearance
there when we put on The Sorcerer on 10th August -
Our very successful Spring Show this year had the title of “The Grand Duke at the Music Hall” because half the concert was a tailored production of The Grand Duke, Gilbert & Sullivan’s last opera, with a second half of Victorian and Edwardian songs mixed with some G&S choruses. We had great audiences at The Regent Centre, Christchurch; the Tivoli Theatre, Wimborne and The Barrington Theatre, Ferndown.
We always finish our year with a carol season leading up to Christmas, raising money for the Macmillan Cancer Unit at Christchurch. After another carol filled December, we are very proud that over the years we have raised well in excess of £40,000. Thank you to all those who give so generously.
